After reading a few books on the subject, many encourage you down a methodical process to building out your tree..
Pauline Golds in her “Grow your own family tree” book ( link to book on amazon ) says:
“Always try to work on one ancestor at a time, working backwards through that line until you reach a dead end”.
At this point I am not good enough to agree or disagree but what I do know is I get distracted very easily, and disappear on side quests, which I think breaks up the sessions I am doing. I recognise there is a benefit in continuity, and keeping details fresh in your head..
but once in a while for me taking a break from the standard searching works.. so I go and do a google or find something on my task list ( put a link here when i post about how i do my todo list! )
in my case and early on, a generic “Vingoe” search brings up a few companies and some genealogy sites with their Vingoe assets. a handful of other Vingoe’s who have put their trees online, again, ( i’ll do a post for this at some point..)
but hidden away in there some newspaper articles, news posts, which is where is found this:

which was a great find, all about Coxswain Thomas Ellis Vingoe.
this gave me some information and assets to add to my tree, but also some existing Vingoe records on wikitree and familysearch.
